Marketing Manager, Crunchyroll Games

Crunchyroll is seeking its first dedicated marketing hire for its new mobile game publishing team, Crunchyroll Games. As the Marketing Manager, Crunchyroll Games, you will focus on our Western launches of Japanese games and will be expected to lead all related marketing efforts. We’re looking for a rockstar with experience in the mobile game space, and someone who has a deep passion for both anime and mobile games. At Crunchyroll, we’re a team who works and plays hard, and we expect the same from you! This is a new and unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new and growing business unit within Crunchyroll. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, Crunchyroll, you’re expected to own and have the following responsibilities and qualifications, respectively:


  • Create impactful marketing campaigns to both acquire new users and retain and engage existing users.
  • Create and maintain a holistic campaign calendar incorporating organic, social, and paid media efforts.
  • Work cross-functionally with Creative Services, Audience Development, Events, and Commerce and ensure communication is consistent and accurate.
  • Work closely with the Lifecyle Marketing team to execute email, push, and in-app messaging campaigns for user acquisition & re-engagement.
  • Support Paid Media efforts for all paid campaigns (AdWords, Facebook, and more).
  • Provide creative briefs and drive asset creation in partnership with our in-house Creative Services team, and potentially freelancers and agencies: key art, logo, app icons, screenshots, trailers, App Store assets, website, user acquisition assets, social media content, email marketing, etc.
  • Review and refine all marketing collateral. You will be required to collaborate with our copywriter on all messaging.
  • Work with internal and external web teams to create and manage the Crunchyroll Games website.
  • Own the influencer marketing campaigns: identification of influencers, direct outreach, vendor vetting, negotiation, ROI reporting.
  • Be the point of contact and own communication with our partners in Japan. Requires time flexibility given time zone differences.
  • Keep up to date on the latest and greatest in the F2P gaming, gaming marketing, tech, and mobile world.


  • At least 3-5 years of mobile F2P game experience in a marketing role
  • You have proven success at devising organic and paid strategies to drive user acquisition and audience retention.
  • You have successfully executed multi-channel performance campaigns that drive revenue, improve LTV, and reduce CPI/CPA costs.
  • You possess excellent decision-making skills with a knack for identifying, prioritizing, and articulating the highest-impact marketing initiatives.
  • You have the ability to work effectively across Crunchyroll’s teams, including Creative Services, Audience Development, Events, Commerce, and more.
  • You’re confident and able to present marketing plans and strategies to senior and director level stakeholders.
  • You’re able to support past, current, and future games at one time.
  • You have executed email and mobile marketing campaigns, including creation of emails, cohorting analysis, collection of data, and post mortem construction.
  • You have owned creative testing on previous games and are capable of running, collecting, analyzing, and using actionable data to optimize KPI’s.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office – particularly Excel with extensive experience building  reports.
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite – particularly Photoshop.
  • Japanese language proficiency a plus but not required.
